
Prof. Y Narahari
Prof. Yadati Narahari is an Honorary Professor at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. His research focuses on applying game theory, mechanism design, and machine learning to problems at the intersection of computer science and economics.
Prof. Narahari's academic journey includes a B.E. in Electrical Communication Engineering in 1982, followed by an M.E. and Ph.D. in Computer Science and Automation in 1984 and 1987, respectively. He joined the faculty of the Department of Computer Science and Automation at IISc in February 1988. He served as Chair of the Department from January 2010 to July 2014 and as Dean of the Division of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Sciences (EECS) from August 2014 to July 2021. Additionally, he chaired the Office of DIGITS (Digital Campus and Informational Technology Services) from January 2016 to August 2020.
Prof. Narahari was a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS) at MIT in 1992 and a Visiting Scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in 1997. He is a fellow of IEEE, Indian National Science Academy, Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Academy of Engineering, and the National Academy of Sciences. He received the J.C. Bose National Fellowship from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, and the IISc Alumni Award for Research Excellence in Engineering in 2009. In September 2024, he was selected for the Sir M. Visvesvaraya Life Time Achievement award for Senior Scientists from the Government of Karnataka.
