Enabling Rigorous Maths and Science Learning through Sports

_J8A3588.JPG

Today, students often encounter the challenge of choosing between sports and academics, leading to the misconception that they must excel in one at the expense of the other.

We need to recognize that athletics and academics are not mutually exclusive pursuits; a potential sportsperson can achieve academic excellence, and an academician can appreciate sports better.

Bridging the Gap

By integrating science and math within the context of sports, we can create engaging learning experiences that allow students to connect with the academic concepts in a practical and meaningful manner, kindling the joy of learning.

Through Krīḍā, we are fundamentally reimagining learning Science and Math in our schools to bring purpose, joy and rigour to nurture excellence both on the field and in the classroom

Krīḍā

Krīḍā intends to create engaging learning experiences that allow students to connect with academic concepts in a practical and meaningful manner, kindling the joy of learning.

We want to reimagine Science and Math learning and develop the curriculum for teaching these subjects completely in the context of sports and games.

EDUCATION RESEARCH project, Longitudinal and multidimentional

As an education research institute, Prayoga intends to pursue Krīḍā to conduct rigorous longitudinal experimental research to study the impact of these learning strategies on students' conceptual understanding, competencies, and higher-order thinking skills.

The study will also explore the long-term benefits of integrating physical activities into the curriculum on students' physical health, mental well-being, and related aspects.

Our Collaborators

Prayoga’s academic team of  Teachers in  Science and  Mathematics,  Education  Researchers, Pedagogy Experts and Scientists will work with Professional Sports Coaches of The Sports School in developing the curriculum.

Prayoga will work with the Education  Department of various state governments to implement sports-based curricula in government schools across geographies.

Prayoga will also partner with private schools in urban and rural schools to make the sports curriculum viable across the societal spectrum.

Krida encourages schools to move beyond traditional teaching methods and explore innovative ways to understand science and math through sports.

Krida aims to make schools enjoyable places that inspire the joy of learning while equipping teachers and schools with the necessary tools and training to facilitate this new approach.

The Krīḍā learning model,  once established,  will be open-source,  with resources, strategies and tools accessible to any student, teacher or school across the country.
