She completed her Master's in Science, focusing on microbiology, from St. Joseph's College in Bengaluru. For her dissertation, Deepika conducted research at the Indian Institute of Science within the department of Microbiology and Cell Biology, where she investigated the pathogenesis of Salmonella Typhimurium to understand its virulence. Following this, she worked as an R&D Assistant at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research in the Molecular Biology and Genetics Unit. Under the guidance of Prof. MRS Rao in the Chromatin Biology Lab, her research focused on elucidating the role of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) mrhl at the Sox8 locus during mouse spermatogenesis. In her free time, Deepika enjoys embroidering, acrylic painting, and has a long-standing desire to learn how to crochet, reflecting her creativity and artistic pursuits outside of her scientific endeavors.
